چکیده

and artificial intelligence may be viewed as instances of the summary-product algorithm (or belief/probability propagation algorithm), which operates by message passing in a graphical model. Specific instances of such algorithms include Kalman filtering and smoothing; the forward–backward algorithm for hidden Markov models; probability propagation in Bayesian networks; and decoding algorithms for error-correcting codes such as the Viterbi algorithm, the BCJR algorithm, and the iterative decoding of turbo codes, low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes, and similar codes. New algorithms for complex detection and estimation problems can also be derived as instances of the summary-product algorithm. In this article, we give an introduction to this unified perspective in terms of (Forney-style) factor graphs. Hans-Andrea Loeliger

An Introduction to Frames

This survey gives an introduction to redundant signal representations called frames. These representations have recently emerged as yet another powerful tool in the signal processing toolbox and have become popular through use in numerous applications. Our aim is to familiarize a general audience with the area, while at the same time giving a snapshot of the current state-of-the-art. *Based on ...

dsp tips & tricks - Direct digital synthesis: a tool for periodic wave generation (part 2) - Signal Processing Magazine, IEEE

110 SEPTEMBER 2004 n Part 1 of this article (in the July 2004 issue of IEEE Signal Processing Magazine), we presented an overview of the basics of direct digital frequency synthesis (DDS), simple formulas to compute bounds of the signal characteristics, and a scheme to improve the DDS spurious free dynamic range (SFDR). In this Part 2, we discuss additional tricks used to optimize DDS performan...
